Past the half way mark and moving forward

Well last week I celebrated my 56th birthday. I have to say, it was one of the best birthdays I have celebrated in the last 10 years. My sister, who is one year younger than me was gracious enough to accept my offer to come to the sunny state of Cali. However, it was only sunny two of the four days she was here. I actually purchased several gifts for myself this year, which is unusual for me to do so on my birthday. My hubby presented myself and my sister with flowers- way to score points honey! I then received a handmade stocking hat which my niece made (I will have to do another post on her work, as it is incredible). I also purchased a sewing machine, my very first which now sits on the dinning room table beckoning  me..ugh. Ahhh, I haven't used a sewing machine since middle school. I also received some very special wrinkle cream in the mail even thought it's past time to address those wrinkles. Next, I purchased a pendant light for my shabby chic bedroom that is in process. My wonderful daughter in law baked a carrot cake for me. It was so yummy! I froze the leftover pieces, but those didn't last long as I have already eaten the pretty little things. Some things, like taste, shouldn't have to wait!  My daughter in law also presented me with a charm for my Chamilia bracelet which I adore. It's a charm representing my two grandchildren. I have to say, the best present was the time I spent with my sister. She is so wonderful, creative and she has the best sense of humor. I just love being with her. She helped me take down the ceiling fan in my bedroom so we could put up the pendant light. Please visit her blog, it's Panther Creek Cottage. You can see just how creative this sister of mine is. Life's too short not to enjoy. Cheers until next time!

Humm, what should I buy for my Birthday?

Taking down the ceiling fan in our bedroom.

Here's the pendant light we put up. It doesn't show in this picture but the reflection of the lighting is very nice. Next is paint.

The carrot cake my daughter in law made was very yummy.

See the little girl and boy charm. My family gave me a very wonderful birthday. I'm a very blessed woman :)

  1. That carrot cake WAS delicious! At least if we risked a Thelma and Louise moment during that bare wire episode, we didn't have as far to fall. Fried on a California King Bed. What a way to go! BTW, I'm Thelma. Cuz' she got Brad Pitt. Yeah yeah, you get to be Louise. Don't argue now, your older, you HAVE to be Louise.:D
